Club Information
As a charitable and educational nonprofit organization, our purposes are:
to educate and encourage race directors to include age group recognition for senior participants
to develop and support an active community of senior runners and walkers
to promote physical exercise as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle for all ages
to provide other charitable and educational services to encourage lifelong involvement and a spirit of fellowship at running, walking, and racing events across New England.
Our vision is to achieve greater recognition for the growing group of athletes 65 and older. The club encourages race directors and sponsors to include 5-year age categories in their events at least up to 80 years of age. Prior to the organization of the club many athletic events failed to have age categories beyond 50, which was not much of a competitive edge for the 65-year-old and older athlete. The club has made great strides in this endeavor. More than 95% of athletic events in New England now include age divisions of 60, 70 and even 80. We participate in many athletic events, from community athletic events to major marathons and state and national senior games.
